The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter and written by Bill Lancaster.Based on the 1938 John W. with bigger production and numerous atmospheric lighting choices/attention to detail that kinda made me wish this was in the sameballpark as it's predecessor story wise. I was on board with the fast paced intro and Escape from New York / Land of the Dead/Mad Max/video game influences, but that second act started to drag a bit for me.
